Polymer Clay - Lotus Talisman Pendant

"Ubika" is a Sanskrit word that means "Growth"
This Lotus is a talisman, a reminder of growing, opening, and expanding.

Throughout many cultures over time, the Lotus has been a powerful image and a spiritual symbol.
In Hindu, Buddhist and Egyptian religions, the lotus is considered a sacred flower.
Among it's many meanings and significance, the lotus is a symbol of
"spontaneous" generation, and so it also represents divine birth, spiritual
development and creation itself.

I made this pendant with a rich earthy brown polymer clay and used metallic leaf on the
design to create an ancient relic kind of feel to this piece. I also hand painted the colors and added
in some sparkles too. The back is painted black and the entire piece was glazed after the baking

The pendant has an approximate diameter of  2 and 1/4 inches.
It hangs from a beautiful braided cord of exotic Sari silk ribbons and lush hand spun yarn.
The cord measures about 17 inches on each side.

I love hiding meanings into the design during the creation process with symbols or colors.
I specifically chose these ribbon colors to correspond with the Heart Chakra which is about:
Releasing emotionally suppressed trauma. Soul/Heart consciousness and Expressing love in

I cleansed this piece with a Sage smudge ceremony. I filled it with Earth energy in a
beautiful ceremony and set these intentions with it through prayer.
I also placed the "Ohm" resonance into the piece with an  Ohm tuning fork.
"Ohm" is the vibrational sound of the universe.
My wish is that this piece will be drawn to the person that needs it in their life at
this time to send healing and love out into our world.
