|Polymer Clay and Gemstone - Seashell Pendant
The seashell is a beautiful totem. Seashells connect us to the ocean, and to water energy.
Water is the element that represents our emotions. They help to open up and activate your
intuition, sensitivity and imagination. This allows us to be able express our imagination, and
our creativity. When we are able to express and share our emotions and ideas, we begin to
heal ourselves and have a greater impact on others and the healing of the planetary family.
Many cultures revere the significance of seashells. The Calusa Indian tribe used seashells
as a form of currency and trade and seashells represent wealth in the Polynesian culture.
The conch shell, in particular, was -- and still is -- revered as an important tool in
trumpeting significant events in their culture.
I made this pendant with polymer clay and some gemstones that reminded me of the ocean:
Amazonite = This stone balances feminine and masculine energy. It promotes kindness and
practicality. It is an excellent stone for artists. Amazonite is know as the lucky "Hope
Stone". It will be lucky for all your hopes and dreams.
Peridot = This stone was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who
considered it a gift from Mother Nature. Napoleon once made a gift of Peridot to
Josephine as a symbol of undying love and admiration. It is mentioned throughout
the Bible, and early Christians considered it sacred. It is a stone of lightness and
beauty. It is a protector against negative emotions.
Iolite = Ancients believed that this stone could unlock creativity in an artist. Use this
stone to discover the lost parts of self and your inner treasures. It is a stone of vision
and creative expression.
The design is done with an earthy, terra-cotta color clay. I painted it with some metallic
powders and created some beautiful patterns in the clay. After baking I gave it a glossy
finish to seal in the powders and paints.
The shell has measures 2 and 1/8 inches in height, which does not include the bail.
It measures about 1 and 3/8 inches wide.
The bail is silver plated, the jump ring is sterling silver.
*The braided cord is not included with the pendant.
