Polymer Clay and Gemstone - Whale Tail Pendant
"Atreyu"

The whale is a strong totem. It represents emotional creativity, well-being, nurturing, and
emotional depth. Those who are drawn to whale energy will tend to be incredibly deep in
sensitivity.
A whale totem can help with many things, as whales are masters of:
Navigation: Moving through emotional depths.
Communication: Effectively expressing emotional experiences.
Conservation: Using emotional energy for fuel and not being consumed by emotional floods

In many sects of Native wisdom, the whale is symbolic of the beginning, the creation of all
life on earth as we know it. Many cultures around the globe associate themes of creation,
birth and rebirth with the whale. Other symbolic suggestions to add to whale totem meaning
include:
Deeper Awareness, Cosmic Consciousness, Emotional Rebirth and Understanding,
Nurturing and Devotion to Community, Appreciation for Beauty, (especially song and
dance), and The Importance of Balance (emotional and otherwise).

I made this pendant with polymer clay and some gemstones:

Garnet = This stone is said to be a stone of purity and truth as well as a symbol of
love and compassion. It will helps with depression, self-esteem, one's own security
level and spiritual awareness. This stone is also said to bring constancy to
friendships and to be helpful for stimulating success in business.

Carnelian = This stone has a long and storied past, and was once considered strictly
the property of the noble class. People holding a high social status were often buried
with this gem stone. This stone is said to protect from bad vibrations and aid in
calming. Carnelian is an energy booster. It helps the insecure person to find strength
within them so they can come into their own.

Amazonite = This stone balances feminine and masculine energy. It promotes kindness and
practicality. It is an excellent stone for artists. Amazonite is know as the lucky "Hope
Stone". It will be lucky for all your hopes and dreams.

Peridot = This stone was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who
considered it a gift from Mother Nature. Napoleon once made a gift of Peridot to
Josephine as a symbol of undying love and admiration. It is mentioned throughout
the Bible, and early Christians considered it sacred. It is a stone of lightness and
beauty. It is a protector against negative emotions.

Iolite = Ancients believed that this stone could unlock creativity in an artist. Use this
stone to discover the lost parts of self and your inner treasures. It is a stone of vision
and creative expression.

The design is done with ebony colored clay. I painted it with some metallic powders and
created some beautiful patterns in the clay. After baking I gave it a glossy finish to seal in
the powders and paints.

This piece is a nice size, a definite totem statement! :)
The tail span is 3 and 1/4 inches and the height is about 3 inches, which does not include the
bail. The bail is silver plated, the jump ring is sterling silver.
*The braided cord is not included with the pendant.
